Huddersfield Giants made it eight wins from their last nine Super League games with a straightforward 38-22 triumph over winless London Broncos.

But head coach Paul Anderson will have been far from happy with the overall performance from his side as they at times struggled to get the better of a side who have now lost their opening 17 top-flight fixtures in 2014.

To say this was a scrappy display would be something of an understatement, and a repeat Giants performance in Thursday's clash at Hull KR will be asking for trouble.

By half-time, however, the win had virtually been assured, with the Giants cruising to a 22-6 interval advantage.

In an opening 40 minutes which was played at an intensity more akin to a training run, the hosts appeared to go through the motions to score their four tries.

Scott Grix set the ball rolling with the opener after just three minutes, following up Craig Kopczak's burst to finish in the corner.

Danny Brough added the conversion, and any hopes of a shock London Broncos win already looked a non-starter.

Having said that, the visitors were unlucky not to level matters in the eighth minute when Jodie Broughton's excellent defence denied Thomas Minns over the tryline.

But with Brough responding immediately with a successful 40-20 kick, the scare soon became a distant memory.

Five minutes later, Brough turned try provider to send Brett Ferres over with ease and midway through the half, Jermaine McGillvary brushed past a couple of defenders on the right touchline before running in to score under the posts.

And in the 27th minute Huddersfield added their fourth when the ever-dangerous Brough and Ferres combined for Joe Wardle to finish off.

At 22-0 after 27 minutes, a cricket score was on the cards.

But with the hosts starting to overplay, the chances dried up and two minutes before the break, the Broncos' never-say-die efforts were rewarded when James Cunningham ran in for a fine solo try, converted by Josh Drinkwater.

It took the Giants five minutes after the restart to resume normal service when quick hands put McGillvary over in the corner for his second.

Yet such was the scrappy nature of the contest that it was no great surprise when the visitors added a second when a Giants break from deep broke down and Drinkwater picked up the loose ball to race in from 70m for a try he also converted.

And by the 56th minute the deficit was reduced to 10 points when Denny Solomona leapt the highest to collect a Drinkwater 'bomb' and touch down in the corner.

At that stage the Giants were looking shaky.

But Jodie Broughton settled the nerves by crashing over on the sixth tackle and Brough landed the touchline conversion before feeding Wardle three minutes later to charge over for a second.

Brough's goal made it 38-16, and the Broncos' brave fightback was well and truly over.

They did have the consolation of grabbing a fourth try with a well-taken effort from Mason Caton-Brown with four minutes remaining - with that effort summing up what was a very frustrating afternoon for the Giants, despite it being a 10th League triumph of the season.
