Aaron Murphy has today signed a Giants contract extension.

The 25-year-old has agreed a new three-year Super League deal which will keep him at the John Smith’s Stadium until the end of the 2018 season.

Murphy arrived at the Giants from Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in 2011 and has gone on to make 128 appearances and scored 50 tries from either the full-back, wing or centre berth.

And the former Leeds Rhinos Academy man, who is one of the most under-rated players in the top-flight competition, is delighted to be staying in Huddersfield for a lot longer.

“It’s a great honour to get a longer-term stay, because I’ve enjoyed every minute at the club,” he said.

“I think we have a great side and when I was offered a chance to stay long-term I took it immediately.

“We’ve finished top and third in the last two seasons and our challenge is to keep that consistency up and peak at the right time for the really big games.

“The squad strength at the club means you have to play well every week to stay in.

“We now have a number of genuinely promising younger players that the supporters will see more of in the next few years challenging for spots in the 17, which again can only be good for the team.

“This is a really exciting time for the club, and to be part of it is fantastic.”
