ANDREW WATSON has stepped down from the Giants’ board of directors due to work pressure.
Since joining in 2003 the lifelong supporter played a huge role behind the scenes in establishing the club as a real “Giant” in the Super League.
“Andrew is a big loss to us but we fully understand and recognise his reasons for stepping aside,” said chairman Ken Davy.
“His work commitments are such that it was extremely difficult for him to attend board meetings.
“His own business now takes him up and down the country. He will always be welcome at the club and I pay tribute to the role he has made to the success of the Huddersfield Giants.”
Added Watson: “It has been a privilege to serve the board since Ken kindly asked me in 2004.
“Having supported the club on the terraces at Fartown since my schoolboy days I would like to thank Ken for giving me that chance, and I am back on the terraces watching each match.
“It has been a pleasure to see the quality work of the board over the last five years, and Giants fans can be assured the club is in good hands.
“And it is no surprise that attendances have risen to the levels they currently are.”
