GIANTS coach Jon Sharp is again forced to play the waiting game as he attempts to pull off a shock Super League victory over leaders Leeds at the Galpharm Stadium on Sunday (4.30).
Last-minute fitness tests are planned for full-back Paul Reilly (ankle) and prop Jim Gannon (shoulder), who picked up knocks in last Friday's 50-10 defeat at St Helens.
But Sharp has confirmed Eorl Crabtree will not be available because of a damaged shin.
Time has virtually run out for back-rower Chris Nero to prove his fitness with an ankle injury which forced him to miss last week's game, while Stanley Gene (foot) is still at least a week away.
"This is obviously not ideal preparation, but it is part and parcel of the game," said Sharp.
"I would like to include Paul and Jim if at all possible, and that's why I intend giving them as much time as I can to prove their fitness.
"Of the two, Jim looks the safer bet.
"I have obviously drawn up plans to cover all eventualties, and I know there are players waiting in the wings who are busting a gut to be given the nod.
"Unfortunately, only time will tell."
Huddersfield are looking to repeat their heroics of last season when they pulled off a shock 30-24 home triumph on July 12, with Brandon Costin scoring two vital tries.
That match was screened live on Sky TV, as too will Sunday's encounter.
Unfortunately, the Giants have been unable to rise to the occasion in front of the cameras in their last two home appearances - losing to Hull and Warrington.
And Sharp is hoping to avoid a hat trick of camera-shy performances.
"We failed to pass our last two screen tests, and it would be fanastic to change all that this weekend," he said.
"Sunday is the chance to rise to the occasion."
