NEW signing Martin Aspinwall will start the new season sharper than ever before!

The 24-year-old last night played in his third pre-season game in 11 days as Huddersfield were beaten 38-22 at former club Wigan Warriors.

The England international admits that such a heavy workload at this stage of the season has left him with aching limbs.

But he believes the busy start to his life as a Giant is just what he needs.

"I went into these three games still trying to find my feet here," said the utility back, who signed for the Giants at the end of last season.

"And playing in all three has definitely helped.

"I played 80 minutes against the Bulls, around 70 minutes at Castleford and then 40 minutes at Wigan last night.

"That's a lot of game time in a relatively short period of time, but I honestly believe it's done me a power of good.

"As a result, I feel I've got a lot more used to life as a Huddersfield Giants player, and I also feel a lot sharper than ever before at this time in the year.

"In previous years, I've only played in the odd trial match before the start of the season, so I went into the opening Super League rounds still a little rusty.

"But that isn't the case this time around. I feel right up to speed."

Aspinwall has revealed, however, that he shouldn't really have played in so many matches.

"The intention was for me to sit out the Cas game and play last night at my former club.

"But when it was decided that James Evans would be rested after picking up a knee knock against Bradford, I got the nod to play against Castleford as well.

"As I said, I'm not complaining. I feel better for playing the extra game."
