Angry Huddersfield Giants coach Paul Anderson has blasted his players’ attitude after they let a 24-6 half-time lead slip away against Hull KR.

And he has warned that if there’s any repeat in future he’ll be prepared to wield the selection axe.

Huddersfield appeared to be on their way to making it two Super League wins out of two as they stormed into their 18-point interval advantage.

But last season’s table-toppers were held pointless in the second half and conceded two tries in the final three minutes to finish 24-24.

“What happened out there just wasn’t acceptable,” said Anderson.

“It’s about attitude, and ours just wasn’t right, and that can’t be tolerated.

“In the first half we scored points for fun and at times I thought we embarrassed Hull KR.

“But at some point in that game we made a decision to stop working hard together. The one-out carries and stuff like that are not acceptable.

“They’re not Giants-like and we need to do something about that.

“It won’t happen again because, if it does, there will be changes, simple as that.”

Anderson also felt everyone involved in yesterday’s game was responsible for it being so scrappy.

“There were reasons for why the game went like it did, and everyone who was out there on the field played a part in that,” he added.

“But the responsibility also lies with the coaching staff, and I’ll be taking a long, hard look at myself as well as everyone else.

“That’s the way we do it here, and hopefully that’ll mean we can come up with the right answers as soon as possible.”
