NINE players are set to make their Giants' Junior Academy debuts against Salford in tonight's Super League curtain-raiser (5.45).

Newsome Panthers' Michael Lawrence, Sam Housley, Luke Roberts and Ben Good will be joined by Siddal's Alan Ormondroyd, Sam Garrod, Jack Holmes, Chris Brooke and Luke Sandland.

A 10th player, Richard Lopag, could also have made his bow.

But he will be travelling to France with England this weekend and the Giants are keen for him to make the trip and gain the extra experience.

Many Giants fans will be aware of the talents of the Newsome quartet.

The Siddal players, on the other hand, will not be quite so well known.

However, the fact all five were part of the Under 18s side that has just won the National Youth League speaks for itself.

Giants: Heeley; Lawrence, Dobbs, Williams, Ormondroyd; Garrod, Broady; Holmes, Whittaker, Lawson, Housley, Martin, Donlan. Subs (from): Roberts, Good, Brooke, Sandland, Prendergast.
