BRETT HODGSON intends to prove he’s still 100% a Giant when he lead his side into Preliminary Semi-final battle against Warrington Wolves at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Saturday.

The 32-year-old Super League Man of Steel will move to the Wire for the start of next season to take up a two-year contract.

That means the Huddersfield skipper will be the focus of everyone’s attention as the two sides battle to move within 80 minutes of a place in the Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford on October 2.

And Hodgson admits the importance of this weekend’s encounter (6.15) means thoughts of his move to the Challenge Cup winners are far from his mind.

“The fact it’s Warrington makes no difference whatsoever,” said Hodgson.

“My priority has always been to do my absolute best to get the Giants to Old Trafford, and that’s never changed.

“I pride myself on playing as well as I can regardless of who the opposition is and I’m very disappointed when I don’t play as well as I want to.

“I obviously want to play very well this weekend, and the fact that’s against Warrington doesn’t alter anything.

“When I get onto that field on Saturday there’s no way I’ll be thinking about next year.

“Right now, helping the Giants get to Old Trafford means absolutely everything to me. I’m desperate to play in a Grand Final.

“Warrington stand in the way of shattering that dream this weekend, so all I’m bothered about is beating them.”

And Hodgson has also dismissed talk he is desperate to play well to prove to the Warrington fans how good he is.

“I’ve been playing for 14 years now and don’t feel I need to prove anything to anyone,” he added.

“Doing my best to help the Giants win is what matters.”
