DISAPPOINTED Giants scrum half Luke Robinson believes Saturday’s Super League clash at Bradford Bulls can’t come quickly enough.

The 23-year-old may have marked his full Giants debut by scoring a try and picking up the club’s man-of-the-match award.

But that failed to make up for the way he felt after suffering defeat against champions Leeds.

And he has already set his sights on erasing the bitter opening-day memory by hitting top form against the Bulls at the Grattan Stadium.

“We’re all very disappointed with the way things went,” he said.

“We’d been looking forward to this day for many months, and we went into it feeling in pretty good shape.

“But I think this excitement may have got the better of us yesterday. We knew it was going to be a big occasion and that might have had a negative effect on us.

“It meant we kept on going away from the gameplan, and if you do that you know you’re asking for trouble.

“In the end, I think we were given a rugby lesson by the champions.

“Leeds did all those little things right, while we clearly didn’t, and we paid the price for that.

“But while it’s disappointing, we know it’s not the end of the world.

“After all, we shouldn’t forget Leeds are a quality team and we still managed to create some chances against them.

“I’m sure that as the season progresses we’ll start to take far more of them, hopefully starting against Bradford on Sunday.

“One of the good things about rugby league is that you don’t have long to dwell on defeats.

“You usually have to get straight back up and start preparing for the next game.

“For us, that’s the game at Bradford, and it’s our chance to pick things up.”
