Castleford Tigers coach Daryl Powell knows it’s a case of trying to pick up the pieces ahead of next Thursday’s Super 8s trip to the Giants.

His club’s hopes of maintaining their top-four challenge suffered a big blow with their 44-26 defeat at Catalans Dragons.

They also picked up a number of knocks during the course of the contest, with skipper Michael Shenton suffering a dislocated shoulder and Ashley Gibson stretchered off with a neck injury in the challenge which has subsequently earned Catalans centre Ben Pomeroy a six-game ban,

“Michael’s injury is pretty bad news,” said Powell.

“Ash Gibson got suplexed a bit and got dropped on the nape of his neck, which looked pretty horrific. He went to hospital over there, but we’ve got this weekend off and he should be all right.

“Nathan Massey got an ankle injury and Ben Roberts got a head knock, but he should be okay.

“We’ve obviously got to keep an eye on everyone and make sure we’re as good as we can be for the trip to Huddersfield.”
