CATALAN Dragons expect to welcome back full-back Clint Greenshields for Saturday’s clash with Stobart Super League leaders Huddersfield in Perpignan.
The Australian was punished by his club for calling referee Ben Thaler "retarded" on his Twitter account during the Dragons’ recent defeat at Leeds.
Greenshields, who was fined 2,000 euros (£1,635) and suspended for three days by his club, is waiting to discover if he faces any additional punishment from the Rugby Football League, who referred the matter to their compliance manager.
Greenshields missed the Leeds game with a hamstring injury but head coach Trent Robinson said he would have been fit to return for last Saturday’s Challenge Cup fifth-round tie against Sheffield Eagles and expects to have him available to face the Giants.
"Clint will be back this week," said Robinson. "Obviously he didn’t train with us at the back end of last week but he’s back now."
Robinson, who is hoping by imposing their own punishment his club have averted the threat of further action by the governing body, says Greenshields was full of remorse and that all his players have been reminded of the pitfalls of using Twitter.
"He felt remorse straight away," added Robinson. "He was pretty upset with himself.
"We’re still waiting for a ruling from the RFL but we’ve taken our own action and we’ve talked to the players about it. It can’t happen."
The Dragons also hope former Warrington second rower Louis Anderson will be back for Saturday’s game after missing the Cup tie with a hamstring strain.
But loose forward Gregory Mounis is out for at least another three weeks with a broken hand.
