Catalan captain Olivier Elima has revealed his side are planning to make Danny Brough’s return to action as uncomfortable as possible.

Super League Man of Steel Brough is back in Huddersfield’s starting line-up after missing the Giants’ last two games due to a ruptured testicle.

While the experienced Elima knows focusing on Brough alone won’t guarantee the Dragons a victory that would take them to within 80 minutes of the Super League Grand Final, he’s aware how important it is to keep the chief Giants playmaker quiet.

“Danny Brough is massive for the Giants,” said Elima, whose side booked a sudden-death preliminary semi-final trip to the John Smith’s Stadium after their shock 24-20 triumph at Leeds Rhinos.

“He has a sense of the game, and you’ve got to stay on your guard at all times when he’s got the ball on his hands. He’s the boss of the Giants, even if he is the smallest.

“There’s no doubt the players around him are different when he’s not on the pitch. He puts pressure on his forwards to perform (which they clearly failed to do at Wigan), so he can take control behind the pack.

“If you can put pressure on his kicks and when he’s in possession, you can trouble him, and that’s something we’ve been working on in training.

“But with the team spirit, solidarity and the atmosphere there’s been in training over the last few weeks, I think we’ve a big chance of winning at Huddersfield.”

The confidence in the Catalan camp has grown even stronger following their first ever win at Leeds, not that it came as that much of a threat to Elima and his teammates.

“At the start of the year, we set ourselves a number of objectives,” he added.

“Our first aim was to do better than last year, which was getting through the first round and then progressing past the second, which is what we’re aiming to do at Huddersfield.

“I certainly think we have the capability to do a lot more and we’re looking forward to playing a Huddersfield side who were second best at Wigan.

“The Giants are a very physical team and put a lot of pressure on their opponents, but we’re going there in a relaxed mood and not feeling under pressure.

“There’s a lot of buzz around this match, especially after our historic victory at Leeds, and it would be great to match what we did in 2009 when we also went to Huddersfield and won at this stage.

“We’ll definitely be going for it on Friday night!”
