Gutted boss Paul Anderson believes the Huddersfield Giants were taught a painful lesson in what can happen if you don’t match the enthusiasm of the opposition.

Huddersfield produced their worst display of the season to slump 30-14 to Catalan Dragons in the South of France.

The visitors trailed 24-0 after 60 horrific minutes before grabbing three late tries to produce a final scoreline that didn’t reflect the true balance of power.

And John Smith’s Stadium chief Anderson has made it clear he’s far from impressed.

“This was the sort of performance that I don’t think anyone expected,” said Anderson.

“We were out-enthused against what was a very committed team, and we just didn’t match them.

“We didn’t stick with what we wanted to do for long enough and ended up making things up. We were our own worst enemy.

“It’s not the end of the world, because we’ve only lost the one game this weekend.

But, given the way we played, it’s a very tough one to take.”

And Anderson had a great deal of sympathy for the 200 Giants fans who made the long trip to Perpignan.

“We have a loyal band of people who watch us every week, and they obviously deserved a lot better than that,” added the head coach.

“There were a lot of people who felt absolutely gutted watching that performance, and I know the fans can be included in that group.”

The Giants now have a full week to prepare for Sunday’s visit of Warrington Wolves to the John Smith’s Stadium.

The Giants have announced a cut-price Tetley’s Challenge Cup ticket deal for their home fourth-round clash with St Helens on Sunday, April 6.

Tickets bought before Monday, March 31, will be just £10 for adults and concessions and £5 for Under 18s at the John Smith’s Stadium (2.15).

Following that date ticket prices will significantly increase.

Junior season ticket holders can watch the tie free of charge by using the RFL Match Voucher 1.

Tickets are for unreserved seating but season ticket holders can sit in their own seat subject to availability (take booklet as proof).

Only the Direct Golf Lower Tier, the Britannia Rescue Stand and Fantastic Media Lower Tier will be open for the game.

The main stand upper is closed.

There are various other packages available to Legend Club and 1895 Club members.

Tickets can be bought at the office, on the telephone hotline or on line.
