BEN COOPER is staying with Leigh Centurions for the rest of the season.

The initial month's loan period for the Giants' outside back came to an end at the weekend.

But even though Huddersfield are still struggling on the injury front, Giants head coach Jon Sharp feels he still has enough cover in the backs.

And Sharp admits he wouldn't want to re-call Cooper when he is on the verge of playing for Leigh in the Arriva Trains Cup final against Hull KR on Sunday week.

"The injuries have hit us hardest at half-back and in the pack," said Sharp, who added that the new deal with Leigh means he could re-call Cooper at 24 hours' notice if the situation changes for the worse.

"We've been relatively well covered in the backs, and that's obviously where Ben would play.

"So if we called him back it would be to play him in the Under 21s again, and that wouldn't be fair.

"Ben has done a good job at Leigh and helped them get to the final of the Arriva Trains Cup.

"I'm sure that having helped them get there he would be very keen to play in the final itself, and I don't intend standing in his way.

"Ben will, of course, continue to train with us during the day and we can call him back quickly if required."
