BIG Eorl Crabtree has given the Giants a massive boost on the eve of the McAlpine Super League showdown with Wakefield (5.30) by signing a new three-year contract.

The 21-year-old 6ft 6in powerhouse prop has been a revelation this season and is already being tipped for a place in the England squad at the end of the year.

The new deal is clearly a reward for the progress Crabtree has made under head coach Jon Sharp.

The former Huddersfield YMCA junior will again be in tomorrow's side to face the Wildcats, and admits that signing a new contract has given him an extra spring in his step.

"Knowing I'll be here for an extra three years is fantastic," said the top Huddersfield product.

"When I was a kid I always dreamed of playing for Huddersfield, so for the club to give me a new deal has given me another massive lift.

"I'm absolutely loving it under the coaching of Jon Sharp and I know I've improved 100% in the time he's been here.

"I've got exceptionally big aspirations for the club, and with Jon around for the next few years I know we'll carry on getting better and better.

"I'm delighted I'll be a part of it, and I'm determined to play my part in the revival."

Crabtree has emerged as a real fans' favourite this season, and the club are hoping they come out in numbers for tomorrow's derby battle with the Wildcats.

Giants chairman Ken Davy has, of course, taken steps to encourage Town fans to turn up by offering £1 admission to supporters who show their play-off final ticket at the turnstiles.

Tomorrow's match could also mark the debut of new Australian recruit James Evans.

The former Canberra Raider has been added to the squad that won so well in London last Sunday.
