LEROY CUDJOE summed it up when he signed his four-year Giants contract extension this week.

“I’ve signed until the end of 2016, but I can see myself being at Huddersfield Giants for my whole career,” said the England centre.

“We are improving as a club, year in, year out, on and off the field – from the junior grades to the support base.

“It would be silly for me to think of moving on to other teams, because I think in the next couple of years we’re really going to kick-on and hopefully win trophies.”

And these are, of course, sentiments that have been echoed by many of his senior colleagues over recent times.

Over the past 12 months many of the Giants’ brightest stars have signed long-term contract extensions, which clearly sums up how much faith they have in their club.

Quite clearly, if they weren’t happy here, could you imagine them pledging the bulk of their careers to the place?

After all, it’s not as if they’d be short of any decent options were they to consider jumping ship.

But now all the key players have been signed up, the Giants can really start to plan for the future, knowing just what could lie in store.

It’s a known fact that the longer players work together, the more effective they’ll become, particularly those operating in the key pivotal roles.

And for the Giants, Danny Brough, Kevin Brown, Shaun Lunt and Luke Robinson have pledged until 2015, while David Faiumu will be here until at least the end of 2013.

That in itself is an exciting prospect, but the genuine feelings of optimism are even greater when the fans see which other top-line players will also be around as the Giants continue their bid to be Super League’s major power.

Already, a total of 16 players are signed up for 2014 and beyond, with the potential for further long-term signings having not been ruled out at this stage.

With the Giants hosting Harlequins tomorrow as they embark on one final major play-off offensive, there could still be a lot to look forward to in 2011.

But all the signs suggest it could be even better over the next few years!

For the record, those who are here for at least the next three years are:

2014: Dale Ferguson, Scott Grix, Luke O’Donnell, Larne Patrick, Jamie Simpson, Joe Wardle.

2015: Danny Brough, Kevin Brown, Jason Chan, Eorl Crabtree, Shaun Lunt, Keith Mason, Luke Robinson.

2016: Leroy Cudjoe, Michael Lawrence, Jermaine McGillvary.
