ENGLAND centre Leroy Cudjoe has become the latest player to secure a long-term Giants contract.

The 23-year-old has today put pen to paper on a four-year contract extension which will keep him at his hometown club until the end of the 2016 season.

And Cudjoe will be hoping to celebrate at the double this weekend when he makes his 100th Huddersfield appearance in Sunday’s Super League XVI clash against Harlequins at the Galpharm Stadium.

“I’m absolutely delighted to sign again,” said Cudjoe, who joins the likes of Danny Brough, Kevin Brown, Eorl Crabtree, Scott Grix, Michael Lawrence, Shaun Lunt, Jermaine McGillvary and Luke Robinson in being tied down to long-term deals.

“It’s always been my goal to secure my future at the Giants and I’m happy that I can continue to play for my hometown team.

“Bruno (Michael Lawrence) and Jerry (McGillvary) signed new deals recently and it’s great that I’ve been able follow in their footsteps.

“We’re building a squad that has plenty of Huddersfield-born players in it and I’m glad to be a part of it. It proves there is plenty of talent within the area.

“It’s an exciting place to be and the fact a lot of key players are signed up for the next three or four years will only benefit us as we continue to develop as a side.

“My ambition is obviously to win silverware with the club and also become a consistent fixture in the team at centre.

“My form over the season hasn’t quite been as high as I would have liked. I’ve moved positions a fair bit during the year and I know I will learn from that and keep improving.”

And former Newsome Panthers junior Cudjoe is desperate to celebrate the news in style when he completes his Giants century this weekend.

“It doesn’t seem like yesterday since I was making my debut,” added Cudjoe, whose first senior appearance was as a substitute in a home Super League clash against Leeds Rhinos in February, 2008.

“It soon passes quickly and hopefully I can mark the game with a good performance and victory for the team, which I’m confident we will.

“If you look at our home games this season, we’ve only lost once, which shows how much we love it here.

“We’re focused on improving and I hope the fans continue to get behind us, because we’re determined to give them something to shout about.

“Winning on my 100th appearance would complete an amazing week.”
