DANNY BROUGH is ready for a golden 2013!

That’s the prediction from Huddersfield Giants head coach Paul Anderson as the final countdown to Super League XVIII gets under way.

The inspirational Huddersfield half-back will lead his club into a top-flight campaign for the first time after being named Giants captain following the departure of Kevin Brown to Widnes Vikings in late July.

Brough relished the role when he took over, regularly leading his side by example with some man-of-the-match performances.

And Anderson knows that if his main goalkicker can build on those displays this season, starting with the League opener at former Giants coach Nathan Brown’s St Helens on Saturday, February 2, then the new year could prove special.

“Danny is a very proud man who will lead with his actions on and off the field,” said Anderson, who appointed Luke Robinson as his vice-captain.

“He’s one of those players who never knows when to give up or when he’s beaten, and hates to lose with an absolute passion.

“That’s why he’s our captain, and I know the extra responsibility of being our on-field leader can make him an even better player for us. That’s a very exciting prospect.”
