Danny Brough could return to Huddersfield Giants action this weekend.

Huddersfield’s inspirational captain missed last Friday’s 44-30 Super League defeat at in-form Castleford Tigers with ankle and jaw damage suffered during the shock home loss to Salford six days earlier.

But head coach Paul Anderson is feeling positive about a potential return for the current Super League Man of Steel in Sunday’s derby clash against Bradford Bulls at the John Smith’s Stadium, when the Giants will hope to end their two-match losing streak and maintain their top-six challenge.

“Broughy’s definitely got a chance,” revealed Anderson.

“All being well he’ll train with the full team tomorrow and come through that session ok.

“And with our game this week not being until Sunday, he’s obviously got the full week to get himself right.

“It goes without saying his return would be a boost for everyone, because he’s a very, very good rugby league player. His kicking game was one of the things we missed at Castleford.

“But while we knew not having Broughy in the team at Cas was going to make our task a little harder, it’s important we find ways of making sure we’re not so reliant on him if he’s not there again.

“Hopefully, we won’t need to worry about that this weekend.”

And Anderson has also confirmed England back-row forward Brett Ferres should be available after picking up a couple of heavy knocks against the Tigers.

“He suffered a head cut that required stitching just before half-time and then rolled back on his ankles in the second half when he clashed heads with Joe Wardle,” added Anderson.

“But the cut head was something or nothing, and he wasn’t knocked-out in either incident, so he’s fine. He was able to train fully yesterday.”
