Danny Brough is hoping the arrival of Jamie Ellis will enable him to have even more of an influence on the Huddersfield Giants.

Huddersfield skipper Brough and former Castleford man Ellis are set to test out their new half-back partnership for the first time in Sunday’s pre-season clash at Halifax (3.00), with Giants chief Paul Anderson having stated regular No7 Luke Robinson could play more at hooker in Super League XX.

And former Super League Man of Steel Brough knows Ellis’s kicking game alone will prove a tremendous help.

“Jamie’s going to be a good signing for us,” predicted Brough.

“He’s a tough kid who plays at the line, and I think he’ll help me, as well as the team.

He’s got a very good right-kicking game, which means there should be less pressure on me when it comes to taking on those kicking duties.

“Hopefully, it’ll allow me to focus a bit more on other things during a game, and I’m obviously delighted about that.

“It’ll be good to see how much more balanced we look as a side, which is something we’ll want to see at Halifax this weekend.”
