Danny Brough believes the fear of failure could provide the Giants with extra motivation ahead of their clash with Hull KR.

A Huddersfield victory in tomorrow's (Sunday's) John Smith’s Stadium showdown would take them within one point of third-placed Wigan with three rounds of the regular Super League season remaining.

But defeat would see the Giants slip out of the top four if Castleford beat Widnes at home at the same time.

And Brough knows that’s something the Giants are desperate to avoid.

“It’s still really tight throughout Super League and it spurs the team on knowing there’s such a battle for the top four,” said Brough, who needs one try to reach a career century of touchdowns.

“As a result, we know how vital it is to beat Rovers.

“And, at the same time, we also know how high a price we could pay if we lose.

“Having worked so hard to get into the top four, the last thing we want to do now is slip up and undo all our hard work.

“But with the confidence there is throughout the squad, we fully expect to go out there tomorrow and do a good job.

“That’s absolutely vital to make sure we have the strongest possible finish to the season.”
