DANNY BROUGH is convinced Giants coach Nathan Brown is the right man to help him reach his full potential.

The 27-year-old half-back produced a man-of-the-match performance to help Huddersfield beat Hull KR 18-10 in Eorl Crabtree’s testimonial clash at the Galpharm Stadium 11 days ago.

That match gave Brough the chance to show everyone how much he has benefited from a first pre-season with the Giants following his move from Wakefield at the end of March last year.

But the Scotland international knows there’s still far more to come in 2011, starting with Saturday’s final pre-season clash against beaten Super League Grand Finalists St Helens at Widnes on Saturday.

“The Hull KR game was a good start, but we all know it could have been better,” said Brough.

“That’s the case both individually and collectively, and we’ve all been working on being better for this game on Saturday.

“But the signs are very encouraging, and I’m definitely looking forward to getting out there again against Saints.

“I could tell the other week against Hull KR that my first pre-season here is paying off.

“To be honest, I’ve never had a pre-season like it and I feel I’m advancing with every training session I have.

“I made it clear when I first came here that I felt I would benefit from working under Nathan Brown, and that’s definitely been the case.

“He spent a lot of time with me over the winter and I’ve learned so much off him.

“He’s already added a lot to my game and there’s no doubt he’s a coach who’s getting the best out of me.

“I know there are still areas of my game that need improving, with the aim of becoming more consistent right up there, but under Browny I know I’ve got every chance.

“I’m feeling really positive about the season ahead.”

One of the features of Brough’s pre-season starring role against Rovers was his kicking game.

He landed his touchline conversions with ease, while his kicks in open play kept on turning the visitors around.

And he couldn’t have been happier about that.

“I thought my kicking was pretty sweet the other week, I have to admit,” he added.

“But just like with ball in hand, there’s still more practice to do.

“I already have a few specific kicking sessions with Browny and some of the other boys a couple of times a week, and they’ll continue.

“And I’m more than happy doing these extras because the work’s paying off, that’s the key.”
