Vastly-experienced David Faiumu is confident everything is in place for the Huddersfield Giants to secure their strongest Super League finish.

Huddersfield strengthened their position in the top six with their thrilling 24-22 triumph at Leeds Rhinos seven days ago and are red-hot favourites to secure a 10th top-flight triumph of the season with victory at home to bottom club London Broncos on Saturday.

And having helped North Queensland Cowboys to their first Australian NRL Grand Final in 2005 – where they were beaten by Wests Tigers – the 31-year-old utility forward thinks there’s no reason why he can’t repeat the feat with the Giants in 2014.

“We see last week’s win at Leeds as a real statement of intent by us,” said Faiumu, who was part of the New Zealand side that beat Australian and England to lift the Tri-Nations trophy in 2005.

“I think it let people know what we’re really capable of achieving again. It was another sign that showed our top-of-the-table finish last season was no fluke.

“We’ve beaten all of the top teams so far, bar Warrington and St Helens, which we know will stand us in good stead for the rest of the season.

“And I believe it’s a good omen for the squad that we’ve been consistent in winning games even though our performances haven’t been at their best.

“We feel we can only improve from here, both individually and as a team. Everyone is confident and working hard on their own games and we’ve got some quality players.

“This is definitely a good situation for us to be in.
