MASSIVE Giants signing Michael De Vere is looking to take Super League by storm!
The 27-year-old Australian Test centre will arrive in Huddersfield for the start of pre-season training on January 6 and believes he has all the motivation in the world to be an instant hit.
Having achieved every honour in the game in Australia, the goalkicking ace is desperate to challenge himself in Super League.
He will today undergo surgery on his knee injury which means he will miss the remainder of the season with Brisbane Broncos.
But medical staff have guaranteed he will return to action for the start of Super League X in the peak of condition and hitting the ground running.
"Obviously, I wanted to end my Broncos career on high, but it's obviously not meant to be" said De Vere, speaking from his home in Brisbane.
"But I have been assured that the knee will be as strong as ever when I start playing again, and I'll begin my career with the Giants in the peak of condition.
"I suppose that's a bonus and means I can start my new challenge fresher than ever.
"I've always relished a challenge and one of these has been to test myself in the English Super League.
"Back here, I've won Premiership titles and the World Club Challenge with the Broncos, played State of Origin and represented Australia.
"Those were the targets I set myself when I first broke into the Broncos first-grade side nine years ago.
"Now I've achieved those targets, it's time to try Super League, and at 27 I'm at my peak.
"I had the option of staying with the Broncos or moving to another NRL club.
"But I'd made up my mind that I wanted to go to Super League and the Giants would be right for me.
"I've played at the McAlpine Stadium before with Australia and the playing surface was fantastic.
"And I like the way they are going about their business. I had quite a few options, but this seemed the best."
