HUDDERSFIELD Giants hopes of making up ground to earn a top eight slot in Super League took a severe blow.

They lost 30-22 in their home clash with Castleford.

Head coach Paul Anderson said: “It is pretty clear we have got a mountain to climb, in regards to securing a top eight finish.

“We weren’t great on the night and we really lost the energy battle.

“You could see which team had a five day turnaround and who had an eight day break.

“But we cannot use that as an excuse, we should have still been a lot better and the real disappointment is that we were never really into the game.”

To add to Anderson’s woes , he confirmed new signing Sebastine Ikahihifo could be sidelined for two months after fracturing his jaw at Widnes Vikings last week.

“We initially thought his wisdom tooth was playing up, but when he went for scans we found he had suffered a clean break,” said Anderson.
