BIG new signing Brad Drew has admitted the Giants have already exceded all his expectations.

The former Canberra Raiders hooker arrived in Huddersfield in mid November with no real idea of what to expect.

But having just completed a third full week of pre-season training, the powerful Australian has admitted he has been blown away by everything.

And, as a result, he can't wait for the Super League season to start.

"I obviously did a fair amount of homework before I came over here and I signed because I was impressed with what the Giants had to offer," said the 29-year-old.

"But everything has been so much better than I could ever have imagined or wished.

"Because I had been playing out of position at Canberra last season (scrum half rather than hooker) I lost some of my passion for the game.

"Everything has now completely changed.

"I know the Giants want me to play at hooker and I know I'm going to be playing for a fantastic club.

"The facilities are great and the pre-season work has been tough, which is the way I like it.

"I'm also with a great and funny bunch of blokes, all of whom have a great deal of talent.

"Overall, it's a pretty young squad and their enthusiasm has definitely rubbed off on me.

"In fact, I've been that impressed with everything that I rang Michael De Vere back in Australia the other day to re-assure him that he'll be coming to a great club.

"I think he appreciated it.

"Coming over here is like taking a step into the unknown, and it's great to discover you've made the right move."

Drew will not be in action in Monday's Infirmary Cup clash against Halifax at The Shay (7.00).

But several members of the Giants' Super League squad will feature in the clash against the Calderdale club.
