HI, it’s Eorl here.

And welcome back to a very happy Giants camp.

It really is amazing what a couple of wins can do to the mood inside a club and how much it can lift everyone.

A couple of weeks ago we couldn’t buy a win, and it seemed the harder we tried to dig ourselves out of the mess, the deeper the hole was getting.

But a few weeks later, we’re celebrating two wins out of two, our confidence is growing and the performances are becoming a lot more fluent.

The squad is also looking in pretty good shape, too.

We’ve go competition for places all over the place, with the arrival of Brett Ferres and return from long-term injury of Joe Wardle adding to our overall strength.

They both produced dominant display in last Friday’s win at Salford and I know they’re looking forward to facing their former club, Bradford Bulls, at the John Smith’s Stadium tomorrow. It should be a cracking day!

I’d also like to give a special mention to Michael Lawrence, whose recent form has been phenomenal. He’s taken to his new back-row role like a duck to water.

His workrate is incredible, making more tackles – and hardly any misses – than anyone else in our team and backing that up with numerous quality carries.

It’s work that often goes unnoticed by the fans, but is fully appreciated by his own teammates. Bruno really is one of our unsung heroes at the moment.

And that’s something that could also apply to my fellow prop, Keith Mason, who over the past month or so appears to have been given a new lease of life. He’s another who’s doing so much hard work for the team.

But that’s not prevented him from being the ‘Helmet of the Week’ – and deservedly so.

Keith’s developed a reputation for being one of the tightest around, but last week he took it to a new level.

Luke Robinson had invited us all to a barbecue at his place. As it was players, wives and partners, Robbo asked us all to bring food and drink, which was fair enough.

Everyone duly obliged, apart from Keith that is.

He’d decided to come on his own – not just in terms of bringing a guest, but fetching any refreshments.

Keith’s theory was that seeing as he was flying solo, it wasn’t his responsibility to bring anything with him. He tried to convince everyone that the food and drink was brought to cater for the ‘extras’ and that the player guests would be automatically looked after.

Yes, a weak argument, I know. But Keith’s prepared to do and say anything if it means he has the chance to save a few quid. I’m sure he’ll feel having to wear the ‘Helmet’ T-shirt is a small price to pay for getting a free feed at Robbo’s.

Typical!

I’VE lost count of the number times this week I’ve been called ‘Usain Bolt’.

It’s all stemmed from the late run I made at Salford last Friday when I dummied on our own 20 and raced 50m upfield before I was caught by Jodie Broughton, who did a top impression of Bolt’s Jamaican teammate Johan Blake.

Unfortunately, Johan won – although only just!

But at least we earned a penalty on the back of it, which helped us seal another vitally-important triumph.

And it did give me a chance to show I’ve still got a bit of pace. To be honest, I’ve been called a lot worse than ‘Usain Bolt’ over the years!

Like Usain, it takes me at least 20m to get up to full speed because of my stride length, and it’s obviously not very often I get to run 20-plus metres in a game.

In comparison, it takes Luke Robinson half-a-metre to get up to full pace because he’s got such little legs and stride length is never an issue for him.

In our own way, I’m sure me and Robbo could both give those Jamaicans a run for their money!
