NEW Huddersfield Giants half-back partners Chris Thorman and Paul March could hold the key to a Giants victory in tonight's opening Super League X clash at newly-promoted Leigh (6.05).

Head coach Jon Sharp has confirmed his 18-man squad for the trip, with Jon Grayshon and Iain Morrison the two to miss out from the 20 names revealed earlier in the week.

Sharp is continuing to keep the exact make-up of his line-up under wraps.

But it is seems a certainty that Thorman and March will renew a partnership which was often in operation during the Giants' successful NFP season in 2002.

And Sharp is backing the exciting duo to play a leading role as Huddersfield look to get their season off to a winning start tonight in front of the Sky TV cameras.

"Your half-backs always have a crucial role to play, and ours are no exception," said Sharp.

"Everyone is excited about seeing Chris Thorman back in a Giants shirt in Super League, especially after the way he played at Bradford in the pre-season game the other week.

"He's already having a very positive influence on the team, both on and off the field.

"And having him around could help bring the best out of Paul.

"Marchy enjoys playing in front of the Sky TV cameras and he was, of course, the man-of-the-match for us when we won at Widnes on Sky in our first away game last year. Hopefully, that will be an omen for tomorrow."
