HUDDERSFIELD Giants chairman Ken Davy is looking to put the family first for Super League X.

His club have bucked a top-flight trend by refusing to increase season-ticket prices for next year.

While some rivals clubs have increased their admission charges by around 20%, Huddersfield have announced a price freeze for 2005.

The aim of the game is clearly to attract bigger crowds to Galpharm Super League games.

And the Giants have specifically targeted familes and young supporters by offering discounts to attract these groups.

They include free admission to all Under 11s if accompanied by an adult and a 33% reduction (£30 down to £20) for a season-ticket holder aged between 12-16 years.

And Davy is confident these initiavies will prove highly successfully.

"We are committed to helping young people and families to come to games," he explained.

"The Galpharm Stadium offers a very safe, comfortable environment. The view from any seat is unrestricted and undercover.

"We offer brilliant seats, while our prices are among the lowest in Super League.

"One of the nonsenses last season was the perception that our prices were so much higher than our rivals, when in fact they were only marginally above the average.

"Unfortunately, it was a myth that was allowed to gain some ground and did us some harm.

"This price freeze should put an end to all this talk.

"We are now able to offer a wider audience even easier access to Super League matches at the stadium.

"Furthermore, to emphasise the family spirit within rugby league, and the Giants in particular, we will be dedicating the right-hand side of the Lawrence Batley lower tier as the family stand.

"In that particular section there will be enhanced pre-match entertainment, special children's food offers, face painting, non-playing personnel from the first-team squad and lots of mascot interaction with giveaways.

"I firmly believe our 2005 slogan of `Our Turf . . . Our Team' encapsulates the excitement around the club right now and I would look to everyone in the Huddersfield area to support our bold initiatives and really get behind the team with improved season-ticket sales, as well as aim to bring the sporting pride back to all rugby league followers in Huddersfield.

"Next year promises to be another fantastic year for the Giants.

"We have just enjoyed our most successful season in the top flight of British rugby league for 50 years, and have already secured three top-class signings for next year.

"In returning Giants hero Chris Thorman and top Australian duo Michael De Vere and Brad Drew we have three players who are at the very top of their sport.

"I hope to see even more of you sharing in our success in 2005."
