A group of Huddersfield Giants fans have teamed together in a bid to bring more colour to the John Smith’s Stadium on a matchday.

The idea has come about through the Giants’ on-line fanzine, 4Fs.

At the heart of the strategy is a claret and gold flag fund, with 4Fs editor Eddie Kaye believing the idea is a real winner.

“Any Giants fan could tell you that the John Smith’s Stadium on a Giants match day is pretty colourless and dull,” he said.

“But 4Fs are looking to change that.

“We have introduced a Flag Fund (similar to the North Stand Loyal of Huddersfield Town) where fans can add a donation to help don the colours of the Giants all over the stadium.

“Our designer, Mark, and a number of other fans have put together some great designs for flags, but we need the funds to get them up in the stadium.

“The need for the Giants fans to back the boys has always been clear and it has only been accentuated by comments made by Danny Brough and Paul Anderson in the Examiner recently, who have both stressed the importance of the backing they receive from the stands.

“It’s not just flags we want to put up, we also have lots of other ideas on how to improve both the colour and the atmosphere at home and away games.

“We are encouraging anyone to bring their own flags down to the stadium and put them in block two of the Britannia Rescue Stand, while club’s anthem, ‘Falling in love with you’, is now to be played pre-game, so we’re encouraging people to bring scarves along to the game and hold them aloft and sing along.

“It would be great if people could really get behind all these ideas, including making a donation to the flag fund or simply sharing the page. The link to the funding page is gofund.me/hgrlflagfund.

“Furthermore, any ideas or questions can be emailed to me at huddersfieldgiantsfanzine@gmail.com.

“We already have one flag, which pays homage to chairman Ken Davy, on the way after raising over £300.

“Remember, claret and gold are OUR colours, so let’s show it!”
