Fit-again Sebastine Ikahihifo is hoping the relief of getting that first Middle 8s win will help the Giants finally play to their full potential.

And the blockbusting back-row forward wants to play a leading role in making that happen.

The former St George star is now back to full fitness after suffering a broken jaw at Widnes, and his appearance at Batley on Sunday will be his fifth on the trot – when he hopes to give even more to the Giants’ cause.

“The Featherstone win – and the size of it (62-16) – has given everyone a huge lift,” said Ikahihifo.

“And obviously the aim is to keep building on it, which I’m sure it will with Rick Stone in charge. He’s really professional and the things he’s brought in are starting to have a very positive effect on us.

“I’m definitely enjoying my footy under him, and I feel my own form, as well as that of the team, will keep improving under him.

“It was tough being out injured with the jaw for six weeks, but during that time I was able to spend a lot of time on fitness drills, which have helped.

“I’m now playing big minutes for the team, and the more I play, the better I know I’ll get.”
