Huddersfield Giants head coach is hoping to have no selections worries ahead of their Super League survival clash with Hull KR – but is still waiting on the progress of Sam Rapira.

The fitness of the 29-year-old former New Zealand international prop appears to be the only issue following the Giants 22-14 home success over Leeds Rhinos – a win that means success at KC Lightstream Stadium will ensure Huddersfield’s place in Super League 2017.

Rapira left the field after a blow to the head during the second half against the Rhinos, in a contest that also saw Ryan Brierley, Scott Grix and Tom Symonds return to the side.

Grix had overcome a back injury and Symonds returned after two matches out with a calf strain, while head coach Rick Stone revealed that Jamie Ellis had been left out purely to change the team’s playing format.

“We seem to have come out of the Leeds game in not too bad shape,” said Stone.

“Sam took a knock to the head and wasn’t going to play for the rest of the game, but afterwards he seemed pretty good.

“But with these injuries it is a case of Sam ticking all the boxes.

“He has ticked most of them so far, but he still has some to tick – but we’re pretty confident.”
