I KNOW some Giants fans still have the jury out on Jim Gannon, but personally I was delighted to hear he's signed a new two-year contract.

A big criticism levelled at him is that he very rarely breaks a tackle.

That may at times be true.

But, as he showed at Bradford Bulls on Sunday, he never takes a backward step, even when the odds are stacked against him, and will always fight the Giants corner - sometimes quite literally, as the Bulls' Lee Radford discovered!

And by driving into the heart of the opposition defence, he does an excellent job at softening them up, leaving that defence vulnerable later in the game.

The Giants have gained a reputation as being a physical side and one that takes no prisoners.

That's a reputation of which we should be proud, and one that should fill the opposition with fear.

And Jim Gannon has played a part in ensuring the Giants have earned that mark.

Well done Jim!

Power to the props!

Thanks Trevor

MELTHAM All Blacks Juniors would like to wish Giants Academy conditioner Trevor Commons all the best on his Italian adventure.

We were all delighted when we heard he had been offered a two-year contract to be head conditioner at a top Italian rugby union club.

But we were also disappointed that he would no longer be around to help us.

Over the past few years the help Trevor has given us has proved invaluable and his impact at our club has been massive.

The All Blacks are now flourishing at junior level, and Trevor has played a big part in that and he should be proud of his efforts.

There's no doubt his departure is a big loss to Huddersfield rugby league, and he will prove almost impossible to replace.

What a flag!

WELL done to whoever it was who had the massive Huddersfield Town flag behind the goal for the England v Croatia game.

It must be the biggest flag at Euro 2004, and it was fantastic to see!

There's no way anyone could have missed something as impressive as that. It made me feel very proud.

Striker wanted

I DON'T think Town need to be bothered about defence because I believe we are pretty strong in that department.

What we do need is a good striker to play with Boothy.

The play-off final against Mansfield only finished goalless because Boothy couldn't finish any crosses.

Dream ticket

SEASON-TICKET sales at Town are going really well.

But wouldn't it be fantastic if we could get over the nine thousand mark!
