FIT-AGAIN Stanley Gene is aiming to celebrate a stunning Giants Super League triumph at Wigan on Sunday (3.00) by passing a major landmark.

The 30-year-old Papua New Guinean grabbed the 49th try of his Huddersfield career in the win at Salford on Sunday.

And he is already dreaming of achieving a half-century which would help Huddersfield complete their first Super League double over Wigan.

"To get to 49 tries in three years isn't bad going, but 50 sounds so much better!" said Gene, who helped the Giants secure a 26-10 McAlpine triumph over the Warriors in April.

"Hopefully, I'll reach it this weekend, and hopefully it will be the winning try. I couldn't think of anything better.

"And it would also be great to get the better of my very close friend Adrian Lam, who was fantastic in Wigan's win over Saints last Friday.

"We've only faced each other once before when we beat Wigan last season, so I'm keen to keep my 100% record against him."

Gene made a remarkable comeback to action at Salford last weekend - just 16 days after undergoing minor groin surgery.

He admits he was feeling sore earlier in the week, but doesn't expect that to be a problem on Sunday.

"Our physio, Martin Higgins, is looking after me and with his help I'm feeling OK," he said.
