BUSY Huddersfield Giants are doing their utmost to attract a big Super League crowd against London Broncos on Sunday (5.30).
One of the club's targets this season is to avoid attracting a crowd of fewer than 4,000.
So far that has been achieved.
But matches against the capital club have traditionally been the lowest of the season, and their 4,000-plus objective is ready to face a big test.
Even though the Giants have been producing some excellent performances and remain in Super League's top six at the halfway stage of the season, the crowds remain disappointing.
That is something new Giants' marketing officer Jonathan Wilkinson is keen to address and has immediately taken steps to remedy the situation.
Huddersfield are, of course, working in conjunction with the Examiner in promoting a discounted family ticket for Sunday's clash with a voucher system.
The 5.30 Super League showdown will be the main attraction in a big family day down at the McAlpine, with Wilkinson confident it will prove a massive success.
"The Giants can promise everyone a great afternoon's entertainment," he said.
"We know the rugby is the main event, but there is so much more for the family this weekend.
"There's a feelgood factor at the club right now and we are determined to increase what is already a great family event into an even more enjoyable experience.
"As many of our fans already know, rugby league is tremendously exciting, and hopefully we can attract new fans down to the McAlpine who perhaps have never seen a a game before.
"For this we ask all fans to spread the Giants' word.
"It is our loyal season ticket holders who can do this best by encouraging their family and friends down to the stadium.
"It is these fans who have the best interests of the club at heart and the Giants need all of them at this crucial stage of the season.
"It would be great to create a magical family atmosphere this weekend."
The McAlpine ticket office on Sunday will be open from 1pm for families to exchange their vouchers for tickets.
