DELIGHTED Moldgreen officials believe the Giants' decision to stage Academy fixtures at the new £1.6m DRAM Centre will help put their club firmly back on the Huddersfield rugby league map.

The Giants have today signed a long-term contract to stage Senior and Junior Academy fixtures at Moldgreen's former Ridgeway base.

It's a move which shows how highly the Super League club values the venue.

And officials from Pennine League team Moldgreen believe it is another huge step to seeing their club return to its former glories.

"We're very proud of the facilities we have at our disposal, and this deal shows how highly the Giants rate the Centre," said Moldgreen secretary Brian Tracey, whose club was a member of the National Conference League just six seasons ago.

"The first few years after we lost our Conference League status was really tough.

"But the future is now looking very bright for Moldgreen once again.

"Right now, our open age side is going well in Division III of the Pennine League and we are running juniors sides at Under 8s, 9s and 12s level, with the hope of expanding that next season.

"What we really needed was to increase the awareness of the DRAM Centre to show the wider public just what we have to offer.

"And thanks to this agreement with the Giants we'll be in a position to do just that.

"It means that in the next few years we'll be welcoming hundreds of new fans to the Centre on a regular basis, and that's absolutely fantastic for us."

Moldgreen has always had a strong linke with the town's professional club, with many of the juniors having signed.

Those include the likes of current stars Paul Reilly, pictured, and Andy Raleigh, as well as Darren Fleary, Marcus St Hilaire and Anthony Farrell.
