HUDDERSFIELD Giants will again head for the sun in their final preparations for a Super League season.

Coach Jon Sharp and his squad will spend the second week in January at the Brown's sports complex in Portugal.

It will be the third time on the trot Huddersfield have visited the popular Algarve training base.

The trip was confirmed by Great Britain assistant coach Sharp from the Lions' camp in Australia on the day Giants winger Martin Aspinwall was again omitted from the Tri-Nations side.

Although focusing on the Lions clash against Australia on Saturday, Sharp is still in daily contact with the Giants.

And he is delighted his squad will be in Portugal from January 11 to 18.

"Brown's has everything we need. That's obviously why we're going back again," said Sharp.

"The aim in pre-season is to hit the ground running for the start of Super League.

"In the past two years we've found that's been the case on the back of a great training camp in Portugal.

"So, hopefully, it will be the same again next January."

The Giants plan to back-up their trip away with a main pre-season game on January 21, with the opponents and venue still to be confirmed.

Super League officials have yet to finalise the fixture programme for 2007.

But it is expected the new campaign will get under way on either the first or second week in February.
