MATTHEW WHITTAKER has signed a one-year deal with Widnes Vikings.
The 22-year-old spent the last two months of the season on loan at the Halton Stadium after making just two Super League appearances for the Giants in 2004.
His deal comes on the back of an excellent spell at the Vikings, with his four tries - including two in the home win over Huddersfield in August - helping to keep the club in the top flight.
"We're delighted Matthew has been able to secure this deal," said Giants football manager Stuart Sheard.
"This one-year contract is a recognition of the hard work he put in while he was there."
The centre or second-rower came up through the Giants' Academy ranks, and made 26 senior starting appearances and 35 substitute starts.
