It was difficult to know straight away how serious the injury was because of the amount of swelling around the knee.

"So, we were keeping our fingers crossed the damage wasn't too severe.

"The challenge that caused the injury looked innocuous.

"In fact, within five minutes of coming off at Cas, he wanted to go back onto the field!

"That gave us initial hope.

"But, unfortunately, the news yesterday couldn't have been much worse.

"It really is a devastating blow for Alby, who was really enjoying his footy and liked our style of play.

"In the short time he was here he made a big impact on the Giants and had emerged as one of the star players at the start of this Super League campaign.

"I know the fans had already really warmed to him, and they'll miss watching him in action.

"It's now up to others in the squad to step up to the mark and carry on Alby's good work."
