GIANTS coach Jon Sharp believes his players will relish the chance to do battle with holders St Helens in the fourth round of the Powergen Challenge Cup.

In a repeat of last year's semi-final, Sharp's side will entertain his former club at the Galpharm on Sunday, April 3.

And included in Huddersfield's Cup squad could be former Newcastle Falcons rugby union centre Stephen Jones, who has today signed a Super League contract until the end of the season.

Jones is not expected to feature in the Giants' line-up for Sunday's top-flight trip to Warrington Wolves (3.00).

But if the 21-year-old former England Under 19 and Scotland Under 21 star continues to impress, he could put himself in the reckoning for the Saints clash when Sharp knows his players will face the ultimate test.

"When our name was first out of the hat I was pleased, because it meant we were at home," said Sharp, whose club will be hoping to play in front of another bumper Galpharm crowd.

"And when we were paired with Saints, I was even more pleased.

"It's obviously going to be tough. We found that out when we played them in the semi-final last season (Saints won 46-6).

"But if you're going to win the Challenge Cup, you're going to have to play teams like St Helens at some stage.

"Last year, we had to wait until later in the competition to meet a top side, this year it's the other way round.

"I know the boys will look forward to this one, especially after the way the Super League game went at Saints a few weeks ago when we played really well.

"We gave them a real fright that night and were desperately unlucky to lose, so that will give everyone confidence."
