EARLY-bird starts are waiting for the Giants as pre-season training gets into full swing next week.
Several members of head coach Jon Sharp's squad are already regularly in the gym at 7.00am as part of their off-season weights and fitness programme.
But from next week, the starts are getting even earlier!
As part of the fitness regime of head of athletic performance Geoff Evans, the players will have to report for duty at 6.30am twice a week.
That will enable the squad to continue their fitness work without interfering with the usual pre-season agenda.
These early-morning sessions obviously mean the players' workload will be high, but Sharp is confident the squad will respond positively.
"The players already know what lies ahead of them and they have taken the news in a very professional manner," said Sharp.
"They know why we are doing it and they are happy with that.
"They are already reaping the benefits of the off-season programme and these benefits will continue because of the early starts that are ahead of us."
Among those who have been arriving at the gym at 7.00am are new signings Steve Snitch and Matt Gardner.
And their attitude, along with that of fellow new recruits Andy Raleigh and Martin Aspinwall, has made a positive impression.
"They have all settled in at the club extremely well and are making a very promising start to their life here," added Sharp.
"If our other new recruits, Robbie Paul, Stephen Wild and Albert Torrens, do as well when they arrive, I'll be happy.
"I'm very highly encouraged by the early signs."
