GIANTS coach Jon Sharp believes new signing Lee Greenwood will be out to prove a massive point against former club London Broncos at Griffin Park on Sunday (3.00).

The 24-year-old winger joined the Giants a week ago after being left out in the cold by Super League's capital club.

Greenwood has admitted it was a bitterly disappointing end to his 18-month London career.

And Sharp is confident his new man will respond in positive fashion when he returns this weekend.

"Lee started this season with London in cracking tryscoring form," said Sharp.

"So, to then find himself on the fringes later in the year was very disappointing for him.

"Not that we're complaining, of course.

"It's because he wasn't getting a regular first-team run-out that we were able to get him, and we're delighted we did. He showed on his debut at Hull last Saturday that he is a quality operator, and he played as if he had been with us all year.

"The way he finished off his try was fantastic, he came from nowhere to score it. He was also prepared to come in looking for the work and also produced a big effort in defence.

"I'm sure he'll be looking to carry on that form at London last weekend, because he's bound to have a point or two to prove."

Besides Greenwood, acting Giants captain Chris Thorman is also making a return to London Broncos for the first time.

The 24-year-old goalkicking half-back played for the Broncos in 2003, and Sharp knows his skipper can't wait.

"Chris always looks forward to games, but I know this one will be a bit more special," said Sharp.

"He's still got some good friends at the club and keeps in touch with them.

"But that friendship will obviously be placed on hold on Sunday."
