GREG EDEN is confident he can go from Challenge Cup rookie to winner in just 12 months.

The 21-year-old plays his first Cup-tie for the Giants at Hull FC tomorrow (3.00) exactly a year after making his breakthrough with move Castleford Tigers.

The rising star has missed just one Huddersfield appearance this season – helping them move two points clear at the top of Super League – and that’s in stark contract to his fortunes at the Tigers, where he played just three times including a Cup-tie at Rochdale.

Now he has his eyes on making Monday’s fifth-round draw and he said: “The Challenge Cup will always be really special to me, because I made my debut in it, and I know it can be even more special this time around.

“With the way things have gone this season, there’s no reason at all why we can’t win at Hull tomorrow and then go all the way and lift the Cup at the end of it.

“We know it’s not going to be easy. For a start, Hull will be desperate to get their own back after we beat them in the League on Monday.

“But confidence in the camp is absolutely amazing, and we all know anything is possible this season. I know I do.

“I just can’t believe how far I’ve come from playing in the Challenge Cup last season and the start of this season’s competition, and I’ve no doubt at all it can get even better for me and for the Giants.”

Huddersfield have been linked with the possibility of bringing back former assistant coach Kieron Purtill to the Galpharm as the No2 to Paul Anderson for next season.
