A HAT TRICK of tries from Josh Griffin could not save the Giants from defeat at the hands of Warrington as they went down 34-26 in the Reserve Team Championship.
The younger brother of first team regular Darrell Griffin grabbed his tries deployed as a centre and there were other touchdowns for full-back Jack Sampson and winger Alex Brown. Tom Hemingway added three goals.
It was a fourth reversal in seven games for the Huddersfield side against a Wolves outfit who have won all six of their games and fielded plenty of players with first-team experience – including Richie Mathers, Lee Penny and Mike Cooper.
Giants woe in Warrington was threefold this weekend as they went down 40-18 to the Wolves in the Gillette Academy Championship.
The Giants trailed 18-8 at the interval and never managed to recover as the Wolves turned up the heat in the second half.
But there were positives as winger Perry Whiteley managed to grab two tries for the Giants with loose forward Elliott Cosgrove also touching down – scrum half Danny Ansell added three goals.
