Jacob Fairbank is in line to be in the Halifax side to face former club Huddersfield in Sunday’s Infirmary Cup clash at The Shay.

The 25-year-old back-row forward spent a chunk of last season on loan with his hometown Championship club, having been restricted to just two Giants’ Super League appearances in 2015.

That deal was made permanent towards the end of last year, with Fairbank ready to make his first Fax start of 2016 against the club where he began his professional career.

Fairbank is expected to be joined in the home line-up this weekend by former Giants Academy man Ed Barber, who is back at The Shay after spending the winter playing rugby union with Huddersfield YMCA in National III North.

But while these two have already been pencilled in, 10 of Halifax’s senior players won’t be in action, giving them more time to recover from pre-season injuries and operations.

They are Tommy Saxton, Adam Robinson, Ste Tyrer, Ross Divorty, Gareth Potts, Simon Grix, Gareth Moore, Gavin Benyon, Miles Greenwood and Jon Martin.
