HI, it’s Eorl here.

And I hope you’re all looking forward to tomorrow’s Challenge Cup tie at Batley as much as we, the players, are.

All being well, there’ll be a big turn-out at Mount Pleasant as we take the first steps towards – we hope – Wembley Stadium in August.

But let’s make it clear, we’re not going to get too carried away just yet. If not, then those Batley Bulldogs could bite us really hard.

Having said that, we are looking forward to the challenge, with Jamie Cording particularly excited about the prospect – although that’s probably so he won’t be getting any stick for 80 minutes!

Yes, I’m afraid poor old Jamie is again the ‘Helmet of the Week’.

There’s one school of thought that he’s doing it on purpose, because his favourite colour is pink and he likes wearing the Helmet T-shirt, or it could be that he’s just completely puddled.

This week’s award was earned after demonstrating total rugby league ignorance.

According to Cordo, Wigan have just boosted their squad by signing proud Welshman Daryl Powell!

Yes, it’s true. Powell has signed for Wigan, but it’s Andy Powell, the Wales rugby union forward.

And it’s certainly not 47-year-old Featherstone Rovers coach Daryl, who hails from Ackworth and probably couldn’t care less about Wales, even though Cordo seemed convinced it was!

I think we’re all pleased Cordo doesn’t take all this stick to heart. If he did I’m sure he’d already be a broken man.

But if he is trying to hold on to the Helmet for as long as possible, his reign could soon be coming to an end.

That’s because the Helmet legend that is Jason Chan is now back on the scene.

Channy has this week emerged from rehab following his recovery from a knee injury, and is soon expected to re-discover last season’s outstanding Helmet form.

If that’s the case, then the battle between Cordo and Channy could be incredible.

THE club are working flat-out at the moment on a major promotional campaign for our next home Super League game against Warrington Wolves on Sunday, May 5.

Part of that includes a video featuring my good self and based around the ‘Rugby League of the Extraordinary’ campaign where I’m depicted as the ‘Hulk of Huddersfield’.

I don’t want to give too much away at this stage, but it’s based on a few short scenes related to the build-up to the big Giants-Wolves clash and includes a ‘guest’ appearance by the Examiner’s very own Chris Roberts.

To be honest, I’m more than happy playing this ‘Hulk’ role, and I’m happy to report the rest of the boys haven’t given me too much stick over it.

The main reason for that is because it’s all part of the campaign to help raise the profile of rugby league, which is something everyone involved in the game applauds.

And if me being depicted as the ‘Hulk’ in the process helps to gain rugby league an even wider appeal then I’m all for it.

But I also think there’s another reason why the boys don’t give me stick.

At the end of the day, they dare not!

It’s a case that they shouldn’t make me angry, because they wouldn’t like me when I’m angry!
