Eorl Crabtree knows the Huddersfield Giants still have what it takes to reach this season’s Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford.

But the popular prop doesn’t need telling it’s going to take an amazing improvement in form to keep that dream alive.

The 31-year-old admits the 57-4 play-off thrashing at the hands of Wigan at the DW Stadium has hit the squad hard.

The Giants do have a second chance next week to move to within 80 minutes, with Crabtree confident the events of Thursday night can soon be forgotten.

“Wigan did a number on us the other night,” said Crabtree. “Everything they did came off, and we had no answer to that.

“But while it’s knocked us about emotionally, it’s definitely not done us any long-term harm.

“We’ve put it down as one of those games that do happen every so often, and we can’t wait to get back on the field. We still know we’re a good side, and we’re looking forward to proving it next week.

“Our season’s far from over, and we’re ready to step things up..”
