TEENAGE prop forward Adam Walker will make his Giants debut in today’s Super League clash at Salford City Reds (3.00).

The news crowns an excellent few days for the 19-year-old rising star who has been handed a two-year contract extension.

Walker is set to start on the substitutes’ bench against Salford in one of several changes to the side that thrashed Catalans Dragons 48-6.

Also coming in are Larne Patrick and Scott Grix, who were rested against the Dragons, while centre Michael Lawrence makes his return (ankle injury).

Sitting it out are Brett Hodgson, Eorl Crabtree and Keith Mason.

Hodgson and Crabtree picked up slight knocks against Catalans and Mason is still feeling the effects of playing his first game since opening day.

“Salford might be sitting near the bottom of the ladder, but they’re not a bad team and they won’t be easy to beat. Hull, of course, lost there the other week,” said Brown.

“So we know it’s going to be a test for us, and for Adam in particular.

“But we wouldn’t have picked him if we didn’t think he was ready. He’s been very good for us in the Under 20s this year, and we all feel he’s big enough and ugly enough to take the step up.”

Salford were beaten 32-2 at Warrington on Friday.

“The final scoreline didn’t reflect how well Salford played,” added Brown.

“It will be a test for us.”
