PAUL ANDERSON is back to boost the Giants!

The Galpharm assistant coach returned to Huddersfield at the beginning of the week after a three-week fact-finding mission in Australia.

During that time, the former Great Brtain prop visited top Australian NRL clubs Sydney City Roosters, Canterbury Bulldogs, Wests Tigers and St George Dragons to take a look at the clubs’ various coaching methods.

The trip could prove vital for Anderson, who is taking over as head coach from Nathan Brown at the end of the season.

He’s already looking forward to putting some of the things he’s learned into practice.

But in the short term he’s just relishing this weekend’s trip to Catalan Dragons.

“The opportunity to go down under mid-season and observe games and preps was a great one for me,” said Anderson, who is in charge at the Giants for the next three years from 2013.

“I would like to thank Nathan Brown and the club for allowing me firstly the time and secondly for arranging so many things while I was over there.

“To the club I also think it was a big thing to put this forward and I’m sure we’ll all benefit as a whole, longer-term, from the visit.

“I certainly got an awful lot of knowledge and contacts from my time away, which hopefully will be of use to me and the club in the future.

“I would also personally like to thank Steve Price, Brian Smith, Matthew Elliott, Tim Sheens and Des Hasler for making me so welcome at their clubs and their time in the inner sanctums of their organisations.

“But for now, as you’d expect, it’s back to my role on the coaching team at the Giants and doing my utmost to help everyone here achieve the goals we’ve set ourselves.

“From the clips I’ve seen and the early feedback I’ve received, it seems we have been going reasonably well and I’m looking forward to rejoining the fold ahead of the Catalans game.”
