Paul Anderson is looking forward to watching his Huddersfield Giants build on their amazing 76-18 destruction of Hull FC and moving to within 80 minutes of a first-ever Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford.

Huddersfield charged over for 13 stunning tries on a night of records to set up an away Qualifying Semi-Final trip to either Warrington Wolves next Thursday or Wigan Warriors 24 hours later.

The Giants will have to wait until Sunday lunchtime and Warrington’s ClubCall pick before learning who their last-four opponents will be.

But after rattling up a record number of points in a Super League play-off game – the previous best was Bradford Bull’s 71-0 win, also against Hull, a decade ago – and charging into a record first-half play-off lead (54-6) Anderson knows his players will be ready for the challenge.

“We’re obviously delighted with the way we played in the opening half,” said Anderson.

“After our really disappointing home defeat to Wigan in last week’s play-off game we were looking for a positive response, and that’s exactly what we got.

“The challenge for us now is to make sure we build on that first half and take it into our semi-final next week. I just wish I didn’t have to wait until Sunday before I can start planning for that game, which is really frustrating.

“But I know we will be ready, whoever it’s against, and we’ll give it everything we’ve got.”
